The Flame spectrometer is built using industry-leading manufacturing techniques that help deliver high thermal stability and low unit to unit variation — without compromising the flexibility and configurability that are the hallmark of Ocean Optics miniature spectrometers. New features such as interchangeable slits, indicator LEDs and simple device connectors deliver more freedom and less frustration.
Whether you are an educator looking for an instrument to teach students the basic principles of spectroscopy, a research lab looking to make a breakthrough, or an engineer working to integrate a spectrometer into an OEM system, the Flame will provide you with the performance and features you need to make your UV-Vis spectroscopy application successful.

There are two variations of the Flame with the difference being in the detector type.  The difference between the two types is in the detector. The "S" series uses a Sony detector  with 2048 pixels, and the "T" detector is from Toshiba.  The "T" has Series has 3600 pixels.
The  Sony detector is about a factor of 2 more sensitive to light with all other things being equal. In practical terms that means an integration time (sample collection time) with the Sony of 200 milliseconds may be 4 to 500 milliseconds with the Toshiba.

The    S and T series are custom configurable for wavelength range by using specific optical gratings. However most applications are covered adequately by preconfigured spectrometers.
The preconfigured ranges are:
UV               200 to 850 nm
Vis Nir         350 to 1000
XSR             200 to 1025

The slit is user selectable and as an upgrade from the USB2000+  has interchangeable slits.
One other option worth considering is the addition of  collection optics  ( ES designator).
The collection lens improves the efficiency of light coupling from the fiber optic cable to the detector.
The L2 or L4 are options.  They will typically improve signal strength by a factor of 2 to 5.

Please contact us if a specific configuration (wavelength range or slit size  recommendation) is of interest.
